It is with great sadness to share that Retiree Captain James Wayne Owen
passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
He was 85 years of age and served with the CFD for over 28 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Sybil; his son, retired
Captain David Owen and his two daughters, Michelle Standley and Sandy Joyner;
along with many family and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the
McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, Charlotte, NC
Visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
followed by Funeral Service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Burial at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC
