RE: First Notice of Retiree Trustee Election
As a retired Charlotte firefighter receiving benefits from the Retirement System, it is your privilege and responsibility to vote for a Retiree of the System to serve on the Board of Trustees for the term to be effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028. All Retirees of the System as September 1, 2025 shall be eligible to vote in this election.
Any retiree eligible to vote in this election may become a candidate for the position. To become a candidate, you must complete and return the Request for Candidacy form to the Retirement System’s office no later than Noon on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The form may be obtained by calling the Retirement System office at (704) 626-2728 or you may also request the form through e-mail at sandra.thiry@charlottenc.gov.
This election will be conducted by a third-party vendor, Intelliscan, Inc.
- If you have an email address on file with the Retirement System, an email with a personalized voter link to the voting website will be sent to your email from Intelliscan on August 20, 2025. Please watch for an email with the subject line: CFRS Retiree Member Trustee Election – voting ballot. You will then cast your vote electronically using the information and personal PIN provided to you in the email.
- If you do not have an email on file, a paper ballot will be mailed to your home address on file no later than August 20, 2025. The ballot will contain a PIN number you will need to use to cast your vote. Upon receipt of your PIN, you may either cast your vote via phone, electronically, or by returning the paper ballot to Intelliscan.
- If you do not receive your ballot via email or US Mail by September 1, 2025, please contact Intelliscan on or after September 1, 2025 at (610) 935-6172 to obtain another ballot.
- All ballots must be received by Intelliscan from the voter no later than 5pm ET on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 to be included in the count. Intelliscan will determine if a casted vote is deemed spoiled.
Ballots will be tabulated by Intelliscan after the deadline and will return results to the Retirement System’s office on Friday, September 19, 2025. Upon receipt and verification of the tabulated results by the Retirement System, the winner will be announced.
