IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION
If you retired at the end of 2020 and received your termination payout in January 2021 you will receive both a 1099-R from USBank on behalf of the Retirement System and a W-2 form from the City of Charlotte. If you retired during 2021 and received pension payments during 2021 you will receive both a 1099-R from USBank on behalf of the Retirement System and a W-2 form from the City of Charlotte for any wages paid in the year.
If you do not receive your 1099-R from USBank before February 15, 2022:
You may log on to the Retiree Portal at https://portal.innovestsystems.com/usb/usb and retrieve a copy. If you have not yet registered for this site, you will need to select “Register” and establish a user name and password. Once registered, close the browser, open a new browser and click on the “Log On” tab.
Please retain your December 31st pay stub. This pay stub contains your year to date deductions for Medical and Dental/Vision plan premiums that you may need for tax filing purpose. Your 1099R will not contain this information.
You may contact the Retirement System office at 704-626-2728 after February 15, 2022 for a replacement copy. Please allow 1-2 days for your request.
The CFRS Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2021 has been finalized and available by visiting the CFRS website at: www.charlottefireretire.com.
Once there click on the Reports tab. You may view each section and/or print a copy of the entire report. The AFR contains various information regarding the financial position and condition of the System, the investment policy, investment operations of the System, actuarial information including long-range funding adequacy, membership data, and statistical information as it pertains to the Members of the System.

A Facebook page has been created for active and retired CFD members. This is a closed group and solely intended to provide an online portal for the members. Past and Current CFD members can stay in touch, share pictures, announcements, stories, and their experiences with the Charlotte Fire Department.
To join, you must have a Facebook account and answer 3 short questions verifying your affiliation with the department or a CFD family member. (If you don’t answer the questions, you will be declined.) If you would like to share your pictures or announcements, just add your content and submit.
